Trick #2 - Use natural light![]() Using natural light - i.e. Shooting outdoors, is always a good idea as the lighting is free and powerful. It is, however, more difficult to control than artificial light. Sometimes if the sunlight is too powerful, the harsh contrast that can be produced can cause unwanted shadows, obscuring, for example, the expressions on an actors face. To combat this, use reflectors, (any large white board or card will do) to "bounce" the natural light onto the darker areas of the actors face producing more balanced illumination.
You might also want to consider filming during "the Golden Hours" which are the first hour after sunrise and the last hour before sundown. These hours are film makers favourites which produce a beautiful lighting effect with lovely soft contrasts. NEXT > #3 - Don't "Hosepipe" |
